Continuing building my “house”:

After the foundations and the flooring, come the walls. The walls consist of the frame, the outer walls and the interior, the sheetrock. These walls are life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness.

This week we’ll talk about life; but let me digress for just a minute.

I don’t imagine too many of you are paying attention to what is going on in Washington, D. C., but even so you’re going to be directly affected by what takes place. And what takes place is going to be determined by what those in power believe, and do.

One person with a lot of power is Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives. She and I have two entirely different belief systems. Her “house” of beliefs may have some of the “materials” in my “house”, but the foundation is entirely different. God does not have a significant place in Ms. Pelosi’s “house”.

There is a parade Saturday, September 5th, with a float celebrating the T.E.A. Party movement (Taxed Enough Already). And there will be a T.E.A. Party on September 12th, part of a national movement of everyday citizens, like some of your moms and dads, who are unhappy with the outrageous government spending, take-over of private businesses by the government, and the terrible health-care plan being proposed that has no regard for older people.

Ms. Pelosi and other Democrats are saying members of T.E.A. Parties are tools of insurance companies, or radical rabble rousers; Pelosi even accuses us of being Nazis! Are your mom and dad rabble rousers, or Nazis?

I don’t think she really believes we are Nazis, but I believe she say those things because of her strongly held socialist ideas (big government, high taxes, lots of regulations, limited freedom - that’s socialism). She believes those things are good. WOB D WOD (What One Believes, Determines What One Does). We’re never going to change her mind, but we can fight her ideas. That’s what we’re doing with the T.E.A. parties.

Back to my walls; if they sound familiar, they should. The Declaration of Independence says that our Creator endowed us with certain rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The Founding Fathers were well-educated men of high principles and high morals. The provided a strong foundation for our country, and the Obama administration and the Democrat congress are doing everything they can to pick apart that foundation. They don’t hold the Founding fathers in high regard - they belittle the Founding Fathers by calling them slave owners and other derogatory names. A few of the Founding Fathers did own slaves, but they helped form a government based on Christian principles, and gave us the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, the foundation of a government that enabled the slaves to become free!

Life: I’m going to tell you about your right to life.

In the Beginning, God said, “Let us make man in our image” (Gen 1:26). You and I and all human life exist because of God. He forbade the taking of innocent life. The only innocent person God willed to be killed was His Son Jesus, and that was so we could be redeemed. He’s good, isn’t He?

-One of the Ten Commandments tells us not to kill - an innocent person (it’s very clear that we can kill to defend ourselves, our families, our country).

-God holds life as precious. “Before you were formed in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5).

And Jesus said that children were the greatest of those in the kingdom of Heaven, and went on to say to whoever offended one of His little ones, “Woe to that person by whom the offense comes!” [I’d say killing an unborn infant is offending the baby, wouldn’t you?] You can read all about it in Matthew 18:1-7.

Yes, God holds life precious. It’s His gift to us- we have no right to take innocent life.

Many in our country don’t agree with your right to life. While campaigning for removing the death penalty for the guilty, even terrorists, they are quite content with our gory history of killing over 50,000,000 unborn American children. WOB D WOD.
