FOR KIDS 15 AND YOUNGER - CHASING HAPPINESS

The interior wall of my “house” of beliefs is the pursuit of happiness, the third of the three inalienable rights from our Creator, written in the Declaration of Independence.

My happiness doesn’t just “happen”. My happiness will be in direct ratio to the quality of my choices.

You’ll be a lot happier if you make choices that will be good for you later on.

For example, if you want to apply for a good job, if you want to be a leader of a company, do you want an armful of tattoos? Do you want to have to use a band-aid to cover the cool ring in your eyebrow? Do you think you’ll beat out another applicant for a job if you have a stud in your tongue and the other person doesn’t?

You have a fantastic ability, the ability to choose. It’s your free will, given to you by God. You are unique in all of the animal kingdom because you have free will. But you have to resist peer pressure, which can lead you to choose bad things just to be cool, to be one of the group. If they’re on their way to hell, you can choose not to join them.

One thing you really don’t want to choose is to be Gay. When I was your age we didn’t talk much about Gays. We called them “queers” and “homos”. And when we found out somebody was Gay, we might beat up on them. That was wrong. I have learned to treat Gays with respect as individuals, and see that they are not denied any rights that I enjoy.

Gays claim things that aren’t really rights, like Gay marriage, but I have no right to hate Gays (or anyone) or abuse them in any way. They, along with all unforgiven sinners are subject to God’s judgment, not ours. You have to repent, change your thinking, your beliefs, to be forgiven.

About God’s judgment on unrepentant sinners Paul wrote, “..when the Lord is revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2nd Thes 1:7-8). (Don’t fuss at me, that’s God’s way of doing things.)

If that doesn’t melt your i-pod, I don’t know what will. It’s vital that you choose to believe what God says. In fact, it’s the most important thing you can do. WOB D WOD (What One Believes, Determines, What One Does).
Paul goes on, “They shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power” (2nd Thes 1:9).

Now you know why the idea of Separation of Church & State is attractive. People seem to believe that if God has no business in the “state”, public life, then somehow they won’t have to face His judgment (WOB D WOD).

I know, I know, you hear that Gays are born that way. But a “homosexual gene” has never been found in our DNA. And Gays claim to be a minority, but that’s nonsense. You can’t change being white or black, but Gays CAN change their lifestyle.

I’ll bet you didn’t know there are groups for recovering Gays. “Exodus International” and “PFOX” (Parents and Friends Of Ex-Gays) are just two. Check out their websites.

But there are no groups for recovering heterosexuals. Why? The heterosexual way of life is natural - you don’t have to recover from something natural.

If you believe in God, and believe what He said about how we got here, then you also will believe what he said about marriage. Man with woman is ordained by God; union in marriage is good, it is holy, it is natural.

Union of a man with a man, or a woman with a woman, whether in marriage or not, is condemned by God (in the Old and New Testaments), and it is not good, it is not holy, and it is UNnatural.

Use your free will to choose happiness that will truly make you free. Believe me, you don’t want to face an angel in flaming fire!
