Last week I said I was going to place an ad, an article entitled “545 PEOPLE”, by Charlie Reese, a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. Instead, I’ll provide excerpts to give the substance of his article. It’s an excellent expose’ of our political parties.
“Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

“Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?



“Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?


“One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of 300 million who are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the problems that plague this country.
“Can you imagine the Founding Fathers tolerating the slaughter of unborn American children?
“Can you imagine them tolerating a Supreme Court declaring God separate from society?
“Can you imagine them tolerating the Progressive (Liberal) philosophy that is now governing our nation?

“The American people should kick out the 545 and replace them. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!”

I don’t think it’ll happen. I believe the majority of American people have fallen into comfort with our increasingly secular society, and are also content with ignoring the Constitution.

Our Constitution was written by dedicated, Godly men, most of whom were committed Christians. Their dedication to God is the reason for their magnificent document.

As good as Charlie’s column is, as accurate and true as it is, he misses the critical element, the spiritual component in all of this. All of the problems, all of the evils, are merely symptoms of the real problem: rejection of God!

The evil in our nation is promoted by Progressives (Liberals). “Obamacare” is another example of an ungodly law being forced down our throats. Liberals think they’re doing God’s will, but they’re blinded by the god of this world, the god of darkness (Eph 6:12); just like Islamic terrorists, who think they’re doing the will of their god.

The solution for some is a third political party. That won’t work, and it’s unnecessary. What is needed is a resurgence of Reagan Conservatism, like the movement forming in the T.E.A. Parties, and a strong leader, like Reagan.

So far I’ve printed a picture that’s not very “Christmasy”. But take heart; the baby born in Bethlehem grew up, became a Man who said, “Be of good cheer (Merry Christmas), I have overcome the world! (John 16:33)

Nation against nation, brother against brother,
Men so filled with hatred, killing one another.
Over half the world is starving, and our banner of decency is torn;
Negotiating with terrorists, killing children before they’re born.
And fools who march to win the right to justify their sin!
Every nation that has fallen has fallen from within.
Yet in the midst of this darkness, there is a hope, a light that burns;
This little child the King of kings, one day will return!

The best Christmas present I can give you is to introduce you to Jesus. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior, and you’ll have a life filled with Merry Christmases!
