FOR KIDS 15 AND YOUNGER - GROWING UP Once again, a pause from building my “house” of beliefs, to deliver an important message to you, and ask for your help.
In the past, like many others, I have taken “growth” for granted. Not any more, because I have come to realize that growth, the expansion of life, is a miracle!
There are two instances that have startled me into a realization that growth, life itself, is miraculous, that it’s not man-made, or man-thought-of (like Darwinism).
The first instance was when I picked pears off two trees for the first time. I hadn’t paid much attention to the trees, except that each year, friends would drop by and ask of they could get some pears.
One year, I decided to pick them, bag them up, and give them away. I could only get about two-thirds of the way up the tree, and that was by standing on the roof of my pick-up. When I got all I could, the bed of the truck was full of grocery bags full of pears, about two dozen each. I was amazed.
Where did all of the substance of the pears come from? The ground wasn’t sunken, like the pears were made from some of the soil; the tress weren't smaller - in fact they were bigger than the year before. Then where did all of that stuff come from? It hit me between the eyes! It was the miracle of growth. There is no other explanation.
The second instance involved a poem, “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer. I learned the poem at St. Henry’s parochial school in Philadelphia. Most of it:
“I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree;
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed against the earth’s sweet flowing breast,
A tree that may in summer wear a nest of robins in her hair,
Upon whose bosom snow has lain, who intermittently lives with rain…..
Poems are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree.”
It wasn’t until a recent summer evening, sitting on the patio, looking at the tress, that Kilmer’s words hit home - “only God can make a tree”.
The opposite, man making a tree, suddenly became a forceful non-truth, an impossibility.
I thought, “How?” How does a little stick become a big tree? Like with the pears, where does all the substance come from? How does it continually grow whether we’re awake or asleep?
The answer is that it is a miracle, started by God, as described in the Book of Genesis. All other reasons, sources of knowledge, “scientific” evidence, fail to explain where trees come from, and HOW they continue to grow (not why, but how).
It was this second instance that brought to mind my experience with the pears, and propelled my thought to the growth of human beings, you and me.
Everyone ever born, including Jesus, the Christ, came from a fertilized egg, something too small to be seen. (In the case of Jesus alone, the egg was fertilized by the Holy Spirit.) This is the greatest miracle devised by God.
From this realization came the belief that a baby is a distinct individual, not part of its mother, but housed in her body, growing, attached by a tube (another miraculous growth) from which the baby gets nourishment. The baby’s destiny (God’s will) is to emerge into the world like the rest of us.
Ignoring God’s miraculous hand in our lives we have killed over 50,000,000 of God’s favorite creation - children.
And now, in 2009, we have a congress and president who want to use our tax money to kill even more.
You can do something about it.
In the one prayer that Jesus taught, called “The Lord’s Prayer”, or “The Our Father”. It contains all the elements that Jesus thought were important.
There is a place where He taught us to ask His father to deliver us from evil. Here’s where you can help (if you believe in God, and believe in prayer):
When you come to the part about delivery from evil, say “And deliver us from the Obama administration”.
It is becoming increasingly clear that this administration is not from God.
IT IS BETTER TO LIGHT ONE CANDLE THAN TO CURSE THE DARKNESS
