FOR KIDS 15 AND YOUNGER - THE ROOF & CEILING I’m almost finished building my “house” of beliefs, putting on the roof and installing the ceiling.
The roof is love mixed with faith; the ceiling is the Bible.
First, the roof: Why love? And why does faith have to be mixed with it? Because God IS love (“He that doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love.” 1st John 4:8) And, because “Without Faith it’s impossible to please God” (Heb 11:6).
I also think an important part of love and faith is being faithful. A good friend of Jesus was not - Judas. He loved money more than Jesus (John 12:6), so he was unfaithful.
Our country just did an imitation of Judas by performing an unfaithful act. Last week, President Obama pulled the missile defense shield from two really good allies, Poland and the Czech Republic. The shield was installed to defend those countries from Russia and other potential enemies. Our President preferred to appease Russia, a friendemy (friend/enemy), instead of helping to defend two friends. Oh, he and Secretary Gates tell us that they will put the shields elsewhere to better protect us, and that Poland and the Czech Republic are in NATO, and therefore are safe. Did they mention that they have also reduced our missile defense shield in Alaska and California? Should I feel safer?
I believe the truth is that we have a President who is acting like a wimp. An English journalist called Obama, “President Pantywaist”. That offended me, to have a foreigner call our president names, but after the action with the missile defense shield, piled on several other wimpish actions by President Obama, I’m not offended anymore.
In summary, the roof helps to keep a house safe from the elements. Love mixed with faith makes a strong roof.
Next, the ceiling: Why the Bible? Because what I believe, what I have faith in, is important; WOB D WOD (What One Believes, Determines, What One does).
I believe everything important to know to reach Heaven is in the Bible.
For example, there’s two religions mentioned in the Bible, Judaism and Christianity. There’s no mention of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, or any other religions. That doesn’t mean there is no value in them, it just means that Judaism and Christianity are God-ordained, and that all the others are man-ordained. For example, Islam and the Koran were the result of the teachings of Mohammed. I prefer Paul’s teaching: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2nd Tim 3:16).
Scripture, the Bible, had a vital place in the foundation of the United States; it was the basis for our Constitution!
I was wondering the other day why things have changed so much for the worse in the United States. Yes, we had faults. When I was a teenager there was racism, and crime, and even crime-lords. But most Americans were decent, God fearing, family people, patriotic. And our leaders were proud of the United States and its people.
No thought was given to killing unborn American children, or promoting homosexuality as normal, or denouncing our president in time of war, or negotiating with our enemies. Political parties, though they disagreed, were the “Loyal Opposition”.
Wow! How different it is today! How did it happen?
I believe it started when one Atheist, Madeline Murray O’Hare, with the help of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) had prayer taken out of public schools. The things the ACLU has done since then have morphed into our present situation. They have been successful in getting the Supreme Court to establish things that were not voted on by the people, like abortion and homosexual marriage.
Today loyal Americans are being persecuted for expressing opposite opinions. They’re called radicals, Nazis, and domestic terrorists by the Obama administration and the Democrat-controlled Congress, and their voices are magnified by the mainstream media (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, N.Y. Times, Washington Post, L.A. Times, etc.).
The persecution is to be expected: “Yes, and all who desire to live Godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” And, “evil men and seducers will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” (2nd Tim 3:12,13)
I think I have a sound roof and an excellent ceiling.
PAUL SAID TO “EXPOSE THE WORKS OF DARKNESS” (Eph 5:11)
