In school I learned that Thanksgiving started with the Pilgrims when they came to this country. That may be why it started here, but reasons for being thankful go back a lot farther in history.

To explain the reason for a much older basis for Thanksgiving, it’s necessary to understand the importance of Israel’s right to their land. (C’mon Mr. Murphy, what’s that got to do with Thanksgiving? Just bring me some turkey!) [Soon.]

The historical origin of Israel goes all the way back to Abram, in the 15th chapter of Genesis, the Book of Beginnings.

Simply because Abram believed God, God chose him to be the father of the people from who God would send His (only) Son. God told Abram he would inherit a land, inherited from God Himself, and that Abram would have many offspring. God changed Abram’s name to Abraham, meaning “father of many nations”. That was 25 years before Abraham had Isaac, the promised son. It was from Abraham’s descendants, the Jews, that God’s Son would enter the earth as a mere man. (C’mon Mr. Murphy, where’s the turkey? [Soon, soon].)

Think about it. God established Israel as a country to have a place for Jesus to be born! That means Jews have more right to Israel than any other nationality has to the country they live in.

God chose the Jews as people from whom Jesus would be born, grow up, die, and be raised form the dead. Thank God for showing us the importance of Israel in His plans for Jesus.

His plans expose the ugliness and viciousness of Jewish anti-Semitism (many Arabs are Semites).

Why do you think the Nazis hated, and Muslims today hate Jews so much? I believe because they don’t know the true God. Jesus was, is, always will be, a Jew.

Why do you think Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Fahrakan (all friends of Barrack Hussein Obama), and many Progressives (Liberals), black and white, including the Mainstream Media, support the enemies of Israel? I believe it’s because they are blinded by the god of this world, and are consumed with the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches; power, greed, sex, and killing unborn American children (Matthew 13:22). It’s no more complicated than that. They’re crucifying Jesus anew, persecuting His people, His country.

“Like sheep we have all gone astray”. That was written in the Old Testament by Isaiah (Isa 53:6). Isaiah’s the same one who predicted Jesus would be born in Bethlehem in Judea, in the country of Israel. Isaiah also predicted that His mom would be a virgin.

Despite the turkey in the White House [I told you you’d have your turkey soon] and his followers, we have a lot for which we can be thankful on this Thanksgiving:

- We know Jesus as our Savior and Lord, so our eternal destiny is guaranteed!

- We live in a country with freedom guaranteed by the Constitution, a document whose framers also knew Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

So we have a firm foundation that can stand against the storms that beset us, storms caused by enemies without, like Islamic terrorists, and enemies within, like the Progressives (Liberals) in Congress and the Mainstream Media who want to “transform” our nation. They don’t like the Constitution, and they’re trying their best to tear it apart.

But we’ve had leaders who rose above the sewage of Progressivism (Liberalism): Separation of Church and State, Political Correctness, Diversity, national weakness, and filth propagated in the name of “Freedom of Expression”. We’ll have good leaders again.

Ronald Reagan led us out of the disaster of Jimmy Carter. And we have an emerging leader, Sarah Palin, cut from the same cloth as Ronald Reagan. There are leaders emerging from the T.E.A. (Taxed Enough Already) Parties, new leaders who will stand strong against enemies without and within.

This Thanksgiving, enjoy your family, enjoy knowing God, enjoy being an American, and tell God you’re grateful. He knows it, but he likes to hear your voice. That won’t put you on God’s side, because He doesn’t take sides. What it will do is put you on His side. After all, He did it all for you.
